PRESS RELEASE

EU-Vietnam Global Gateway Business and Investment Forum

Investing Together in a Sustainable Future

Hanoi - The Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, in collaboration with the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Finance, and the EuroCham Vietnam, will host the EU–Vietnam Global Gateway Business and Investment Forum on 24 March 2026 in Hanoi. Held under the theme “Investing Together in a Sustainable Future,” the Forum aims to advance economic cooperation and investment between the European Union and Vietnam, following the recent elevation of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The EU-Vietnam Global Gateway Business and Investment Forum takes place on 24 March 2026 in Hanoi.

The event is expected to bring together around 500 participants, including representatives from the European Union, Vietnamese government institutions,  leading European and Vietnamese businesses, and international financial institutions. The Forum will also welcome Jozef Síkela, European Commissioner for International Partnerships, who will attend as part of his official visit to Vietnam, as well as Nicola Beer, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank.

The programme will feature a plenary session and a series of panel discussions bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to explore investment opportunities and policy developments.

Discussions will focus on key areas supporting Vietnam’s sustainable economic development, including sustainable transport, energy transition, connectivity, twin digital and green transformation, and the growing importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards in investment and business practices.

Commenting on the initiative, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier stated: “The EU Global Gateway strategy reflects the European Union’s commitment to building sustainable partnerships around the world. In Vietnam, our cooperation aims to support the country’s green and digital transition and to strengthen connectivity, investment, and innovation. By working together, we can create opportunities that benefit both our economies and contribute to long-term sustainable growth.”

The Forum will provide a platform for dialogue between European and Vietnamese stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities, address regulatory challenges, and promote closer cooperation between businesses. It will also support Vietnamese companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in connecting with international investors and partners.

By strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Vietnam, the Forum aims to contribute to increased investment, facilitate technology transfer, and support the development of a skilled workforce. Such collaboration will also help Vietnamese businesses integrate into sustainable global value chains and support the country’s efforts to advance low-carbon development and climate resilience.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL GATEWAY STRATEGY

The Global Gateway is the European Union’s flagship initiative to build sustainable, secure, and mutually beneficial connections that serve both people and the planet. By promoting green and clean infrastructure development, the strategy focuses on delivering long-term value without creating unsustainable burdens for future generations. Through mobilising up to EUR 300 billion in public and private investments between 2021 and 2027, the EU aims to strengthen strategic global linkages, bridge investment gaps, and reduce critical dependencies.

In Vietnam, the Global Gateway Strategy is implemented through targeted investment commitments in clean energy, sustainable transport, digital transformation, and ESG standards, directly supporting the country’s dual green and digital transition.
